And so here we are... August 26th! In some ways it still feels like I just moved to SLC, that could be in part because I have been all over the place this summer. Up to Logan, down to Cedar City and plenty of stops in between. I have definitely turned a page in the new chapter of my life. Post-Grad life is pretty awesome. I can't believe school is starting up again, and I'm not in Logan. I do miss it. Just last week I was up in Logan partying it up with some friends and old roommates. It was so great. A piece of my heart will always belong in Logan.
This weekend was the best weekend I have had in a really long time. My friend Alison was visiting from Singapore. I met up with her down town SLC and then we went to get manicures. SO fun! Then I took her to dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory at Trolley Square. In a word... YUM! We both got the spinach tortellini with alfredo sauce. Delicious! Of course we had to get Italian sodas, I was adventurous and went for Blackberry Vanilla... SO GOOD! And bonus we get to keep the glasses! Then I took her up to the Capitol, by then it was dark so we got to see the awesome view of the city in the dark with all the lights on.
Afterwards we went back to my apt. and I made us Orange Madeleine's - recipe to follow, they are my new favorite - we may or may not have dipped them in white chocolate. YUM!
Saturday morning I was up and out of the apt. by 8am. I drove down to Provo and was at the MTC for a couple of hours! Best way to spend my morning. There are currently 22 missionaries going to the Singapore Mission - Malay speaking. They were so great, I got to meet 8 of them, and saw a girl who was in my ward my last semester at USU - who also happened to be my Visiting Teachee. Small world!! I am so excited for her! I can't even describe how great it was to be in the MTC. All of the missionaries taught lessons on Receiving revelation through going to church. Each companionship taught a slightly different way, and each had a different commitment for me. I of course committed to everything they asked and I followed through with that today. I was really uplifted through my experience there, and of course speaking Malay so much definitely was good for my soul. I love that language so much!
After the MTC I went and hung out with a couple Elders who had served in my mission. We made a Home Depot run to pick up the new flooring for their apt. Good times! Then the day got even better, my trainer Sis Young rolled into town. We got to chat and quote movies just like old times.. and plan a Jane Austen night- I'm super excited to for that! We met up with Alison a bit later and had a fantastic dinner at The Banana Leaf in Provo. Cameo and I got Chicken Tikka Masalah, and Alison got the Coconut Curry. A little taste of the mission food - also medicinal for the soul. Quote of the night: A: How do you feel? C: Like I can do anything! Haha love those girls! SO good to be back together after years!
I had to leave pretty quick, because my day got EVEN better. I got to go to the temple with family and friends. It was my cousin's first time going to the Temple. Such a special night!
Today I went to my ward for the first time in weeks. I have been all over! Right after church we had another one of the epic Roommate crepe fests. I made us some orange Madeleine's as well. Then our home teachers came over :) They're great. Then two of my roommates and I went to the Stake Center for choir practice - first of many. Our group of about 350 girls are singing at the Women's Conference this September. The songs are so beautiful, I am so excited to learn them! I was assigned the 2nd Alto part. There are some pretty low parts, but I am excited to extend and strengthen my range a bit. It is going to be such an amazing experience I can tell. - and it was the perfect way to end such an amazing weekend!
