Christmas break begins!

Life has been awesome since I finished my finals and projects! My last day in Logan I went to a wedding reception over in Mendon. One of my roommate's younger sister got married so I was able to visit with them for a while before heading home. Thankfully the roads were dry although it was snowing. Saturday I spent most of the day in Salt Lake for my cousin's wedding. I rode down with my grandparents and then we went to the Brunch at the Joseph Smith Memorial building. I love that building! The main lobby was all decked out for Christmas. In a word... Gorgeous. If I wanted to get married in Salt Lake I would totally have my luncheon/reception there. The brunch was so fun, my cousin and his bride were adorable. Then while we were waiting for the sealing, we walked around the JSMB and then popped over to Deseret Book. = )

The sealing was so great. Our grandfather was able to marry them so it was really special. Afterwards we waited for them to come out, the rain paused for the pictures thank goodness! My Grandparents and I were only in picture then we bailed. We ran out to South Salt Lake to visit Aunt Ruth in the assisted living home. She will be 100 next year! She is such a darlin. 

On our way back, we stopped at Trolley Square and popped across the street to the London Market. I LOVE that little store! It always brings back so many memories! That's probably why I enjoy BBC productions like Pride and Prejudice (classic), Wives&Daughters, North&South, Robin Hood, Doctor Who,  Merlin ... reminds me of living in England. I need to get back over there. Well, I'd love to travel again. Today is my 1 Year Home from the Mission mark! When did that happen?? I cannot believe how fast time flies by. It has been quite the year. 

The rest of the weekend I spent down in Payson with another cousin of mine. We stayed up late talking, made carmel and chocolate dipped pretzel sticks, watched Muppet Christmas Carol, and Lady and the Tramp, finished making the presents for her school kids, finished up her lesson for Sunday school and then partied all day for her last day of school. -She teaches 2nd grade down there and I have been able to visit her class a few times this semester. Monday was so much fun though! We seriously spent most of the time just having fun - the kids decorated ginger bread houses, they performed their puppet shows and we went to the 6th grade performance. Awesome! On top of that we got a foot of snow!

It was pretty crazy! We drove back North after school. Thankfully the further north we got, the less snow there was. We stayed in Layton over night then I took her to the airport in the morning. 

Since then I have been back in Ogden, running all over the place trying to catch up. Need to finish off my Christmas shopping today and then make the cookies and things for our family Christmas Eve Party tomorrow. A little crazy but I love being home with family - especially this time of year. I LOVE Christmas!

Christmas is almost here!

I haven't had much time for blogging the last two weeks. Once I made it back to Logan after the whole flat tire ordeal I buckled down for the last week of class and finals week. My main projects were from my Materials class and Architectural Systems based on our Medical Spa Project. For Materials I to turn in a Secification booklet for the Spa - where I did pages for the different furniture and finishes I chose for the spa. Then in Systems I had to finish up the construction documents which included a Floor Plan, Reflected Ceiling Plan, Elevations, Plumbing Plan, Mechanical Plan, Power Plan and Lighting Plan. Then I also had final exams for Business law and Systems. Probably the best final project for any of my classes was making an ottoman for Materials! To get ready for it I cut my fabric and my friend helped me sew it, then I got some flanged rope to go around the edges. The workshop was so fun! I got pretty handy with a staple gun :) I think my ottoman turned out pretty cute:

Last night to celebrate our freedom from finals we had a little girls night by going out to Firehouse Pizza:

...so delicious! We got their signature focaccia and the spinach artichoke chicken pizza - alfredo sauce as the base. Yum! I think my favorite thing there is the chicken cordon bleu calzone, but everything I have tried there is so good! Then we went and watched Inception. That is a very interesting movie - I would definitely watch that one again.

So now what to do? It is still kind of surreal that I am finished, don't have to think about homework until January! Although, after Christmas I will be making of list of places I want to apply for an internship, because we will get our portfolios together and apply for internships early in the semester. That should be exciting! It would be awesome if I could work in an internship and then go back to work at the VA for the rest of the summer. We shall see.

But now the party begins, I have a wedding reception to go to tonight, then tomorrow my cousin in getting married so I'll be busy all day with that in SLC. (I'm excited! I Love Salt Lake!) Then after my cousin's reception I'll be heading down to Payson until Monday night. So I am excited for all of that, it should be a great time!

Today's thought of the day is "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained" Lets just say I was brave yesterday and did something a little out of character.. whatever happens I can take comfort that I put myself out there. :)
